It’s Wednesday, which means it’s time for a little website news update.
I know that’s not how the usual Wednesday open thread starts, but we’re doing things slightly different. Dr. NerdLove has joined Patreon! Think of it as a tip jar that helps keep the site running and gets you some nifty extras in the process, including a monthly patron-only Ask Dr. NerdLove column! And if you miss, say, the Dr. NerdLove podcast… well, guess what the first goal is?
Even if you can’t contribute, sharing this and letting other people know is also a good way to help support the site.
(As is rating and reviewing my books on Amazon and GoodReads, actually…)
Also: The Doc’s going to be at Alamo City Comic-Con next week! Come say “hey”, trade a virtual high-five for a real one, get an autographed copy of one of my books or some con-exclusive DNL swag! Looking forward to seeing you all!
And now: your regularly scheduled open thread suggested topic:
In every tabletop RPG there is just one thing that keeps a GM’s carefully crafted narrative from playing out perfectly:
The players.
So I want to hear about your game-going-off-the-rails moments. Did you LEEEEROY JENKINS a raid? Did your players completely overturn a story to pursue some bizarre objective? Did you devote enough points to your familiar to disguise them as a cultured man-about-town?
Share your thoughts and adventures in the comments below.
You know the rules. No hate, no spam, no trolling. Have fun!
