I’m thrilled to announce the release of my latest book “I Got Her Number. Now What?” This is the guide to texting, DMing and Snapchatting you’ve always wanted.

Does texting terrify you? Does texting terrify you? Are you tired of getting ghosted and watching promising connections dwindle away into nothing? Do you wish you knew exactly what to say and how to say it?

When it comes to meeting women, getting her number is only the start. If you want to make sure that getting her number leads to an actual date, then you need to understand the secrets to turning that initial contact into a powerful connection. Whether you somebody at a bar, trying to connect at a party, moving the conversation off of a dating app or simply trying to start a conversation over social media, understanding the rules of text will turn your dating life around.

Whether you want to land a date with that one perfect person or make sure you never spend another weekend alone, mastering the art of texting will be like getting a superpower no other man has. It’s time to take your love life to the next level and answer the question:

I got her number… now what?

August 31, 2016 by Dr. NerdLove 34 Comments

Normally on Wednesdays I have the usual open thread, but instead, I’ve got an announcement to make.

I’ll be at Baltimore Comic-Con this weekend, and if you’re coming to the con, you should come find me at table A337. Why? Well, to start with, not only will I have some surprises at my table, I’ll also be debuting my new book “It’s Dangerous To Go Alone – A Relationship Survival Handbook”!

It's Dangerous To Go Alone_kindle

Just because you’ve started dating doesn’t mean the work’s done! It takes more than love to make a relationship work. Dating is a two-player game, and if you want it to last, you need to know how to play together. Don’t let love be the hardest difficulty setting.

Can’t make it to Baltimore this weekend? It’s also available for pre-order at Amazon!

But for those of you who will be there, we’re also having a DNL meet-up Friday, starting  at 8:30 at the Hyatt Baltimore! Come meet me and your fellow fans, have a drink and celebrate the weekend in style!

It’s going to be an awesome weekend, so I hope to see you there! And remember…

It’s dangerous to go alone! Take this!

How To Survive Valentine’s Day (When You’re Single)

February 8, 2016 by Dr. NerdLove 70 Comments

Valentine’s Day is one of the most despised holidays you can imagine… particularly when you’re single. It’s already a fake holiday – the “Saint Valentine was martyred in Rome for secretly marrying slaves and Christians” story is as fake as Kanye West’s insistence that he’s not into butt stuff. Valentine’s Day is a commercial holiday that was originally designed to boost sales of lace and smutty poetry in the 19th century, which in turn has led to an annual tradition of paying far too much money for a night out, dead foliage and shitty chocolate.

"Behold, I have created a celebration of our love!" "You fucked up a perfectly good pagan sex-party is what you've done. Look, it's got commercialism!"
“Behold, I have created a celebration of our love!”
“You fucked up a perfectly good pagan sex-party is what you’ve done. Look, it’s got commercialism!”

But when you’re single? Valentine’s Day is the day when the world is determined to rub your face in the fact that you’re alone. Ads every five seconds demanding that you prove your love by buying expensive crap you can’t afford and happy couples everywhere. Meanwhile you’re at home with a microwave pizza and the existential despair of an empty mailbox..

Look at it this way: Charlie Brown made it through Valentine’s Day with a sense of optimism left. You can pull that off too.

So how do you get through Valentine’s Day without quietly losing your mind? Glad you asked, convenient rhetorical device, here’s how.

Ask Dr. NerdLove: Is Snooping OK?

January 1, 2016 by Dr. NerdLove 57 Comments

Hello Doc, there’s something I need help with.

There’s this guy I really like, and, well it’s hard to tell if he likes me or not. He’s just a really nice guy; he always says yes whenever I want to hang out with him, he’s always there for me (he even said so himself), he compliments me like “You’re cool,” or “Awesome,” but never like “You’re pretty…”

And then he calls me bro and stuff.

He replies with long paragraphs but takes forever to reply. We’ve talked on the phone for hours once. Whenever we hang out alone he likes to stare at me; it’s like he stares right into my eyes. He always gets really close to me but doesn’t touch me or anything. I’m always asking “what, are you cold?” but he never says anything. He doesn’t mind paying for me if we go out; even when I tell him I have money, he insists. He’s such a gentleman too.

The problem is he’s my ex’s friend. They’ve known each other since they were younger. My ex gets jealous when we hang out but my crush/friend says he shouldn’t care anymore and says it’s sad that my ex doesn’t trust him or whatever. So I’m not sure if he’s shy to make the first move or if he’s scared of what my ex will think or if he just likes me as a friend I just don’t know what to do.
